Eco Mats
Most regular Yoga Mats are made from PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) plastic which cannot be effectively recycled. This is due to the various toxic additives used to soften or stabilize the chemical matrix of PVC. These toxic additives, if introduced into a batch of items in the process of being recycled, effectively pollute the entire batch and render it non-recyclable.
Red Door Yoga has now joined a growing list of companies dedicated to eliminating PVC from its line of products. We now exclusively carry Eco Mats which are PVC free. These beautiful, environmentally friendly mats are made of TPE (Thermal Plastic Elastomer) which makes it decomposable, recyclable, and hypoallergenic.
Eco Mats, unlike PVC mats, are manufactured without producing phthalate, toluene, or heavy metals. And production waste is recycled directly at the factory.Eco Mats have both an excellent feel and a superior traction. And its closed-cell structure makes the Eco Mat very hygienic by preventing bacterial growth resulting from sweat. Cleaning is easy, simply wash with soap and water, by hand or in a washing machine (no spin cycle) and hang to dry. The Eco Mat has a much faster drying time than PVC-based mats.
Eco Mats are double-sided and come in a variety of colours. They are also available in regular thickness or deluxe thickness
* A number 3 in the recycle symbol or a “V” underneath it indicates that the plastic is made of PVC. Please do not mix these in with your other recycling waste unless your waste disposal service specifically “okays” this.
